Spring Game & Championship Celebration

Three Practices remaining for the LSU Tigers, until the Nation L-Club Spring Game kicks off next Saturday at 12:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium. Admission to the Spring Game will be free!
This opportunity will be used for the SEC Championship Celebration, LSU took the title in a 42-10 win over the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta, Georgia.

LSU Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu was named MVP of the Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu (#7) was named MVP in the SEC Championship Game
The Tigers are looking forward for another title next season, and they have more than enough reasons to believe they’ll make it. As already seen in their Third Outdoor Scrimmage this year, LSU’s rushing game is strong, and their Quarterback Zach Mettenberger can keep up with the rest of his Offense aswell. We’re looking forward to a great Spring Game and a great 2012 Season!

Geaux Tigers!

LSU's Depth Chart Adjustments

With LSU Quarterback Jordan Jefferson, Wide Receiver Rueben Randle, Cornerback Morris Claiborne and Ron Brooks, Linebacker Ryan Baker and Defensive Tackle Michael Brockers going up, the Tigers have some huge holes to fill. Zach Mettenberger will move up to the Starter Position for Quarterback.
Les Miles is confident that Mettenberger will get the job done there, after throwing for an impressive statistic at LSU’s Third Scrimmage.
Wide Receiver Russell Shepard (Sr.) is going to move up to the starting spot for X-WR, and Odell Beckham Jr. Will start at Z-WR.

Wide Receiver Russell Shepard (#10)
On Defense, there are more adjustments to be made with atleast five of their starters leaving.
Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu moves up to #1 on the Depth Chart for Cornerbacks, followed by Tharold Simon. We’ll see Craig Loston on Strong Safety, and Eric Reid on Free Safety with Brandon Taylor leaving the Tigers this offseason. Outside Linebackers will be Lamin Barrow and Tahj Jones – Kevin Minter stays as Middle Linebacker. There are alot of changes in the Depth Chart on the Defensive Line, making KeKe Mingo and Sam Montgomery the Starting Defensive Ends aswell as Bennie Logan and Anthony Johnson the Starting Defensive Tackles.

Cornerback Tyrann Mathieu (#7)
Punt Returner will be Tyrann Mathieu, Kick Returner Russell Shepard and Odell Beckham Jr., so we can expect to see some returns to the house next year!

Third Outdoor Scrimmage

LSU’s Third Scrimmage was a big one. Everybody will confirm that.
Quarterback Zach Mettenberg threw for an impressive statistic of 177 yards and three TD’s.
Saturday’s Scrimmage featured more than 100 Plays between all Teams of the LSU Football Program. The Scrimmage was spread, featuring Red Zone, Third-Down, and Open-Field Situations for the Tigers’ Offense and Defense.

"I liked what I saw today," LSU coach Les Miles said following the scrimmage. "I think we improved on both sides of the ball.  Offensively, I thought we ran the football and threw the ball pretty well."

Quarterback Zach Mettenberger

Miles said Mettenberger connected on 16-of-25 passes for 177 yards and three scores, including one to tight end Chase Clement. Mettenberger did not throw an interception. Backup quarterback Stephen Riverscompleted 6-of-12 passes for 60 yard and one score.

"I think we are competing in the passing game very well," Miles said of his team through 12 practices this spring. "I think Zach is a real leader for us and he enjoys that role."

Odell Beckham Jr. with five catches for 50 yards and Jarvis Landry with three receptions for 50 yards were the top receivers for the Tigers.

Junior Spencer Ware led all rushers with 90 yards on 12 carries as the Tigers combined to run for 287 yards on the ground. Alfred Blue had 67 yards on 10 attempts, followed by Kenny Hilliard with 60 yards on 13 carries and Jeremy Hill with 56 yards on 10 rushes.

LSU's Pro Day 2012

It was time to shine for those who aim to go pro on the LSU Tiger’s roster – and they did exactly that. Alot of well-known players decided to participate: Cornerback Morris Claiborne, Linebacker Ryan Baker, Wide Receiver Rueben Randle, Safety Brandon Taylor, Quarterback Jordan Jefferson and a few more. The Cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Ron Brooks continued putting up great numbers, just as they did at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

Both showed off their speed at the 40 Yard Dash by putting up the numbers of 4.39 (Claiborne) and 4.37 (Brooks).

“I knew I could run faster,” Claiborne said. “I wanted to come out today and show that I'm that 4.3 guy. I felt very comfortable. It was just like another day at practice.”

Michael Brockers, LSU Defensive Tackle, also aimed on putting up some better numbers than he did in at the NFL Combine.

“I felt like I didn't do too well in the Combine and now I opened some eyes,” he said. “Coaches got to see me hands on. I can only get better.”

Every LSU player had good reasons to give their best at the Pro Day: Some big names showed up aswell.
LSU’s Pro Day was watched by New York Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan, Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin, Minnesota Vikins Head Coach Leslie Frazer, and some LSU Players such as Patrick Peterson, Stevan Ridley and a few more.

The most impressive numbers were put up by Ron Brooks with a 38 inch jump and Fullback James Stampley, who set the team record for this day with 30 bench reps.
